Simon Silvester is head of planning, Y&R/Wunderman Europe, Middle East and Africa.
He wrote his first web page in 1994, viewing it in Mosaic 1.0, and then in Netscape 0.9 beta. He registered his first domain name www.silvester.com in 1995.
Since then, he has worked on digital and analog marketing in 42 countries with Coca-Cola, Diageo, Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, Honda, Lufthansa, Unilever, Danone, Nestle, ChevronTexaco, Coors Brewing, Scottish and Newcastle, Sony, Hitachi, Singapore Telecom, Motorola Asia Pacific and Citibank, as well as internet start ups in Europe, China and the US.
He also manages Y&R/Wunderman's research tools BAV, 4Cs and Energy across Europe.
Since 2002, he has won WPP Atticus prizes for his booklets 'You're Getting Old', Service With A Snarl, SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM, 'How To Make Someone Fall For You' and most recently for his argument that consumers just don't understand most digital technology, 'My Brain Hurts'.
During 2004-7, his views were featured in the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Time and The International Herald Tribune, as well as on CNBC and CNN.
Before joining Y&R/Wunderman, Simon was Head of Planning at McCann Erickson Germany, and before that, he was a Global Planning Director at Ammirati Puris Lintas working in LatAm, Africa and Asia as well as in Europe and the United States.
He started his planning career at Boase Massimi Pollitt.
He has a degree in physical sciences from Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
